By Moses Garrison, living in the Big Bottom, Lee County, Iowa Territory, about seven miles from Fort Madison, a large Bay Horse, supposed to be six years old last spring, a snip on his nose, his right fore-foot is split nearly up to the hair, his left fore-foot has a scar near the ankle joint, no other marks perceivable. Appraised at eighty dollars by Rueben R. Harper, Pumroy and William Helden, before James D. Gedney, Justice of the Peace, on 2d day of July, 1840
