Mary Ann Nelson was born in about 1835 in Ohio. Her father's name might have been David, since her first son had this name. She married Richard Price, who was a carpenter, in about 1858. To this union were born three children, Alice Mary, David Nelson, and Herbert Richard. In the 1880 census for Keokuk, Lee, Iowa, Mary Price was listed as a widow, age 45, born in Ohio, and a boarder. Her parent's birthplace is listed as Pennsylvania. Her three single children are listed as living with her. Mary Price is also listed in the Keokuk city directory for 1882-83 as living at a boarding house at 1326 High St. with her children, Alice and Herbert. She is also listed with her children, Alice and Herbert in the Keokuk city directory for 1883-84 and 1884-85, as a widow, boarding at 418 Blondeau St. It is felt that Mary might have gone to Riverside, California with her daughter, Alice, and son, Herbert, and is buried some where there.
