BOLLEN, BULLEN, SMITH

I'm interested in finding out what happened to Ede Naomi (Smith) Bullen, who was last reported in Kossuth county in 1875, and may have died giving birth to Nellie Geraldine Bullen (aka Bollen)

Nellie was born in Kossuth Co., Iowa on 2/11/1875, according to her Nebraska marriage certificate to Ede (aka Eda) N. Smith and Reuben O. Bollen. Ede Naomi and Reuben were married on 5/12/1872 in Humboldt Co., Iowa just to the south.

However, after Nellie's birth, Nellie was raised by her maternal uncle George Smith and his wife Arvilla, her older brother was sent back to New York to live with their grandparents, and Reuben moved to western Kansas. Ede disappears ... did she die in childbirth?

Note that (a) Nellie named her 3rd daughter Naomi (presumably she knew her mother's name through George), and (b) Geraldine was Reuben's mother's name.
