My grandfather, Frank August GUSTAFSON, was born in Algona, Kossuth County, IA 16 Apr 1872. I'm seeking information on his parents and siblings. I believe his father was John August GUSTAFSON, birth, unknown; death, before 1880, location unknown. His mother was Christine (possibly PARSONS), born about 1850 in Sweden; death, unknown. By the 1880 Federal Census, Christine is listed as a widow living in Moline, Rock Island County, IL with 3 sons: Frank A. GUSTAFSON, age 8, born in Iowa. Frederick A. GUSTAFSON, age 6, born in Iowa. Alvin A. GUSTAFSON, age 1, born in Iowa. I believe it is possible that their father, John August GUSTAFSON, died in Kossuth County since I haven't been able to find him in Illinois. In the 1880 Census, Christine is listed as head of the house and a widow. Her brother, Pere A. PARSONS, is listed as living with her. He is listed as 29 and born in Sweden. I'm assuming that her maiden name would have been PARSONS also. I would appreciate any help that you can offer or any ideas on where to locate more information in the Iowa records. Thanks.
