Mother of J. C. Todd, Prominent Algona Business Man, Passes Away at Home of Son.Death came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Todd in Algona last Friday when the dark angel bore away the immortal spirit of Mrs. Marion Todd, mother of Mr. Todd. Mrs. Todd had for the past four years lived in Algona with the family of her son, J. C. Todd, the manager of the Latimer Brothers Store.
During her residence here Mrs. Todd has been held in high esteem by all of those who made her acquaintances. Mrs. Todd at the time of her death was 73 years of age, having been born Marion Lord Champlain at Constantia, New York, October 29, 1847. Here ten years of happy married life was spent, three children coming to bless their home. Mr. Todd died in 1887, and Mrs. Todd continued to reside in Oneida, until she came to Algona to live with her son in November, 1916.
Mrs. Todd was a refined Christian lady, who stood high in her home community. She was a member of the Episcopal church and took great interest in the church affairs.
Mrs. Todd was a Daughter of the Revolution, being a member of Gen. Wm. Floyd Chapter of Boonville, New York.
She leaves two children, Mrs. R. J. Steinberg, of Springfield, Massachusetts, and one son, J. C. Todd of Algona and four grandchildren.
The remains were taken to Oneida, New York, leaving Algona Saturday night, accompanied by the bereaved son and F. R. Rederus, an old friend of Hampton, Iowa. Funeral services were to be held in Oneida, and the remains laid to rest in Constantia, beside the husband, son and brother.
