FINAL RITES FOR A.H. STOCK HERE SATURDAY
Funeral services for A. H. Stock, 70, well known Algona insurance man, were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 from the McCullough Chapel with the Rev. D. R. Martin, pastor of the Congregational church, in charge.
Burial rites were not held until Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., pending the arrival of Mr. Stock’s daughter, Mrs. Pierre Ouellette of Seattle, Washington, who was held up at Mobridge, South Dakota, by floods which delayed her train nearly 24 hours. The remains were laid to rest in Riverview cemetery with Masonic services conducted at the grave. Pall bearers were Raymond Irons, W. E. McDonald, Geo. Spongbert, G. D. Stokes, John Wheelock and W. A. Dutton.
Two of Mr. Stock’s children, Mrs. Ouellette and Kenneth, news editor of the Sioux City Journal and his family were here for the rites. Leon of Marysville, Washington, was unavoidably absent.
Out of town relatives and friends who came for the services were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Stock and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stock of Storm Lake; Mrs. Jalmer Johnson, Albert City; Mrs. Annie May, Lake Park; Mrs. Mae Fleming, Spirit Lake; Mr. and Mrs. K. M. May and family of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Fuhrmeister, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Ida Wilsey, Sheldon; Wm. Wilsey, George, Iowa; and Robert Smythe, Fort Dodge.
Mr. Stock died Tuesday, May 30, at the Kossuth hospital, following an illness of several months. He was born in Somersetshire, England, February 22, 1872. When he was eight years old, he came to the United States with his parents. His earlier adult years were spent in the meat business, but he found his calling as a life insurance salesman for the Equitable Life Assurance Co, with whom he was associated for thirty years. In 1896 Mr. Stock was married to Cora M. Powell, who died in 1934. Their three children survive beside a number of brothers and sisters.
Mr. Stock was an honest, upright citizens, and always had a friendly smile and greeting for his friends.
