Note: There is a cenotaph stone for Gladys in the Riverview Cemetery in Algona. Gladys is buried in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Gladys Bell

OTTUMWA–Gladys I. Bell of 1010 Hamilton Street died at 2:15 p.m. Aug. 11, 1990, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born in Thor to Ernest and Cora Hoover Rising.

She moved to Ottumwa from Algona in 1947 and had been an employee of the United States Department of Commerce. She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church and had been choir director at the church and at the Bethany Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Richard and Stephen of Ottumwa; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald; a sister, Marian Rising; a brother, Vaughn Rising; and an infant brother.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, Rev. Harold Gilleney and Joe Selix officiating. Burial in Shaul Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church.
