May 4, 1970 - Kossuth County Advance - George Wagner, 69, well known St. Joe area farmer, died unexpectedly at his home late Wednesday afternoon. He had not been ill previously. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church at St. Joe, with the Rev. Leo Schumacher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, the Hamilton-Wilson Funeral Home of Algona in charge. Pallbearers were Don Wagner, Don Reding, Robert Reding, John Reding, John Illg, and Joel Reding.
Mr. Wagner was born on May 1, 1900. He was the son of John and Lucy Schumacher Wagner who were living in Kossuth County. He was married to Amalia Illg at St. Joe on Jan. 8, 1929. His wife survives.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Frank T. and John N., both of Bode and one daughter, Shirley, Mrs. Don Frofer, Tempe, Ariz. There are four grandchildren. Two brothers, Orville and Sylvester, both of Bode and one sister, Mrs. Nick Reding of Algona also survive.
His parents, three brothers, and one sister are deceased. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
