Oct 31, 1973 - Humboldt Republican - Services for Mrs. Louise A. Thul, 85, were held Saturday, Oct. 27, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe. Wilson Funeral Home of Algona was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Thul died Wednesday night at Humboldt Care Center North where she had been a patient since February, 1972.
Survivors include one son, Harold, Bode; one daughter, Mrs. Peter Becker, Bode; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a brother, John Wilmes, Waite Park, Minn.
Louise Wilmes was born at Otter Creek, Iowa, to Anton and Elizabeth Wilmes. She moved with her family to Bancroft where she was educated. The family later moved to St. Joe.
She married George Thul in 1906 and the couple farmed at St. Joe. She continued to live on the farm for several years after the death of her husband in 1955, then moving into St. Joe where she resided until moving to Humboldt Care Center North in 1972.
She was a member of St. Joseph Court of Catholic Daughters of America. The Rev. David Hogan was celebrant at the funeral mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe. Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were grandsons: Robert, Ronald, and Roger Thul, and Allan, Maurice, and Arthur Becker.
