May 17, 1971 - Kossuth County Advance - Mrs. John Thul, 83, rural Bode, died Thursday morning at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. this morning (Monday) in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at St. Joe with Rev. David J. Hogan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Hamilton-Wilson Funeral Home of Algona in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were grandsons: David Thul, Richard J. Thul, Howard Kohlhaas, Marvin Kohlhaas, Allan Kohlhaas, and Mark Elbert.

Annie Thul was born April 9, 1888 at St. Joe, daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Schuh Kayser. She was married to John Thul at St. Joe Sept. 29, 1909 and she spent her entire life in the St. Joe area.

Mrs. Thul is survived by her husband; three daughters and two sons, Eugene and Richard, St. Joe; Clara, Mrs. Sylvester Wagner; Amanda, Mrs. Raymond Kohlhaas; and Rita, Mrs. Milford Plathe, all of St. Joe. There are 32 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. One sister survives, Elizabeth, Mrs. Nick Eischen, St. Benedict. Another sister, Sister Mary Amalia Kayser, died a few days earlier and her funeral was the morning Mrs. Thul died. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two grand daughters.

Mrs. Thul was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and a charter member of the St. Joseph Court of Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of the Village Card Club. The C.D.A. rosaries were held at 2:30 and 3 p.m. Sunday and the parish rosary at 8 p.m.
