Sept 3, 1963 - Kossuth County Advance - Will Thilges, 83, Algona, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, at St. Ann hospital following a lingering illness. Services were held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic church, with Monsignor P.P. Gearen officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, with the Hamilton funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were all grandsons: Virgil Huberty, Venodye Huberty, Larry Huberty, Garry Huberty, Jerome Kellner, and James Ernst.

Will Thilges was born Oct. 25, 1879 at St. Joe. He was the son of Peter and Mary Link Thilges. On Jan. 29, 1907, Will Thilges and Christina Estringer were married at Spring Brook, Iowa.

Surviving besides his wife are ten children: Malinda, Mrs Nick Huberty, Cylinder; Hilda, Mrs Arnold Huberty, Cylinder; Hilda, Mrs Arnold Kellner Livermore; Albert, Bode; Alvina, Mrs Carl Ernst, Whittemore; Raphael, Algona; Charles, Livermore; Martha, Mrs Ed Mosser, Bochito, Okla; Martin, U. S. Army, Aurora, Colo.; William, Bode; and Ivolu, Mrs Earl Stalzer, Renwick. Nick Thilges, Whittemore, and Leo Thilges, Algona, are brothers. There are 49 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
