July 28, 1966 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Susanna Thilges of West Bend Succumbs at 84 - Funeral services for Mrs. Susanna Thilges, 84 of West Bend were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Louis Greving officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, St. Joe, Ia.

The former Susanna Etringer, she was born at Spring Grove, Ia., and was raised in that community. In 1905, she married John Thilges at Fort Dodge, Ia. In 1923, the couple moved to the St. Joe, West Bend area, where they were engaged in farming. Mr. Thilges died on July 30, 1961.

Surviving are five daughters and five sons: Felix, Clarence and Sylvester, all of West Bend, Ia.; Mrs. Victor Besch and Melvin both of Ottosen; Mrs. Julius Gartner and Mrs. Ray Gartner, both of Mapleton, Mn.; Mrs. Alfred Bormann of Bancroft; Mrs. Clarence Frideres of LuVerne; and Edwin of Bode, Ia.; 47 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Welbig of Dell Rapids, S.D. and Mrs. Christina Thilges of Algona; and one brother, Dominic Etringer of Maquoketa, Ia.
