March 7, 1968 - West Bend Journal - Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Thilges, 77, of St. Joe, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at St. Joseph's Catholic church, St. Joe, with Father Leo Schumacher celebrant of the Solemn Requiem High Mass. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Hamilton Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were David Smith, Larry Smith, Howard Kayser, Richard Kayser, Ralph Butler and Reuben Butler.
Margaret Thilges was born August 5, 1890, at St. Joe, daughter of Jacob and Mary Becker Zeller. She was married to Nicholas Thilges June 4, 1912, at Clara City, Minn. Her husband died in 1951.
Nine children survive: Raymond, Jacob, Alfred, Bernard and Marcella, Mrs. Clarence Smith, all of St. Joe; Norbert, Bancroft; Martha, Mrs. Herbert Kayser, Ottosen; Mrs. Robert Gappa, Ayrshire; and Mark, West Bend. A sister and brother also survive: Phillip Zeller, Waverly, Minn, and Susie, Mrs. Edward Butler, Waubay, S.D. There are 28 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Thilges was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
