Anna Reding Thilges 1889-1950

May 24, 1950 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Mrs Anna Thilges, 61, a life long resident of Kossuth county, was buried Saturday with funeral services held at St. Joseph Catholic church, Father Theobald officiating. Burial was in the St. Joe. cemetery.

Mrs Thilges had been hospitalized for 11 days preceding her death, which came last Wednesday, May 17, at St. Ann hospital. She was born May 2, 1889, at St. Joe, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Reding. She grew up in the St. Joe neighborhood, and on May 1, 1912, became the bride of Henry Thilges at St. Joe.

Five children survive her. Mr. Thilges passed away in 1947. Children are Alida (Mrs. Walter Bradley) of Algona, Harold, Henry and Alvin of St. Joe, and Sister Alda of Bancroft. Brothers and sisters surviving are Nick Reding of Whittemore, George of Ottosen, Peter C. of Monterey, Minn., John of St. Joe, Adam of Rodman, Andrew, Lewis and Tim of Algona, Peter and William of Bode, Katherin (Mrs. Frank Capesius), Elizabeth (Mrs. John Bormann), Susie (Mrs. Steve DeVine), Margaret (Mrs. Walt Kirsch), and Mary (Mrs. Julius Capesius), all of St. Joe, Clara Walker of Algona, and Sister Mary Phillis of Ashton, Ia.

Two brothers preceded her in death. Pallbearers were Ralph, Marcel and Clair Reding, Norbert Thilges, Maurice Bormann, and Robert Kirsch. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Hamilton Funeral home.
