March 15, 1973 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Peter Reding, Sr., 97, a lifetime Kossuth County resident, died Sunday at the Good Samaritan Home in Algona. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Cecelia's Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery at St. Joe. The Wilson Funeral Home of Algona was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Marcel, Alfred, Harold and Harvey Reding, Robert Kirsch and Harold Thilges.

Mr. Reding is survived by his widow, Emma; a son, Peter C. Reding of Bode; and a daughter, Mrs. Jim Stahl, Livermore. There are seven grandchildren. Three brother and two sisters also survive: William, Andrew, and Louis, all of Algona; Mrs. Clara Walker, Algona and Sister Phyllis Reding, O.S.F., Bancroft.

Peter Reding was born in Riverdale Township of Kossuth County, son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Erpelding Reding. One of 20 children, he attended school in St. Joe and married Emma Germann Oct. 22, 1918 at St. Joe. The couple farmed on the same farm until 1936 when they retired from active farming, but continued to live there until 1953 when they moved into Algona.
