Feb 16, 1954 - Algona Upper Des Moines - St. Joe - Funeral services were held for James Reding, 76 year old at the Catholic church in Algona, the Rev. Harold Cooper officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Thilges, Aloysias Gales, John B. Reding, Harold Reding and Peter Reding, Jr. Hamilton funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Born March 20, 1877, here at St Joe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Reding, Sr. On Jan. 6, 1903, he married Mary Thilges also of here. There were four children born to this union. In 1937 the couple retired from their farm here to Algona.

Surviving are his widow and children: Alvina, Mrs. Orville Wagner, Alfred and Ralph, all of this community and Alice, Mrs. Edward Besch of Whitemore, and eleven grandchildren. Also the following sisters and brothers: John, St Joe; Peter, Algona; Adam, Rodmann; Kate, Mrs. Frank Capesius, Algona; George, Ottosen; Will, St. Joe; Elizabeth, Mrs. John Bormann, St Joe; Nick, Whittemore; Andrew, Algona; Peter C., Montery, Minn; Susan, Mrs. Steve Devine, Corwith; Louis, Algona; Margaret, Mrs. Math Kirsch, St. Joe; Mary Mrs. Julius Capesius, St. Joe; Clara Walker, Algona; and Siste M. Phyllis, O.S.F. of Stacyville.
