Jan 5, 1976 - Kossuth county Advance - Funeral service for Emma Reding of Algona, 81, was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2 in St. Joseph Catholic Church at St. Joe with the Rev. David J. Hogan the celebrant. Burial was in the parish cemetery, Wilsons of Algona in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were Marcel Reding, Alfred Reding, Harold Reding, Harvey Reding, Robert Kirsch, and Harold Thilges.

Emma, daughter of Franz and Marianna Germann, was born Oct. 15, 1894 at Merzalben, Germany. She attended schools there and was later employed as a governess at Pirmasens, Germany. Mrs. Reding came to the United States in 1913 at the age of 18 and settled in the St. Joe area.

She was married there to Peter Reding, Sr. Oct. 22, 1918 and they farmed near St. Joe until his retirement in 1953 when they moved into Algona. Mr. Reding died March 11, 1973. Mrs. Reding died Tuesday night, Dec. 30, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of the North Care Center at Humboldt for the past 13 months.

Mrs. Reding is survived by two children; Peter C. Reding of Bode and Leona, Mrs. Jim Stahl, Livermore. There are seven grandchildren. Two brothers, Joseph and Carl Germann, survive at Merzalben, Germany.
