Sept 19, 1968 - Kossuth county Advance - Funeral services for Wilbert C. Metzen, 63, Irvington farm laborer, were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic church in St. Joe, with Father Leo C. Schumacher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by Hagg-Turner Legion Post No. 90, of Algona. The Hamilton funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were nephews, Eugene, Clarence and Marion Casey; Joe and Francis Metzen and Bill Robinson.

Wilbert C. Metzen was born Nov. 15, 1904 at Mendota, Illinois. His parents were William and Catherine Metzen. Mr. Metzen died Sunday evening at the Good Samaritan Home. He had never married. One brother, Raymond Metzen, and a sister, Mary, Mrs. Robert Casey, both of Algona, survive.
