Aug 7, 1956 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Funeral services for Henry J. Kohlhaas, 72, retired farmer who has lived in Algona for the past 11 years, were held at St. Cecelia's Catholic church this morning, Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 9:30 a.m. Fr. Roster, Fr. Veit and Fr. Zensen officiated at the rites and burial was in the St. Joseph cemetery at St. Joe. Hamilton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr Kohlhaas died Sunday morning of a heart condition at Mercy hospital in Fort Dodge. He had been a patient there for only three days. Henry J. Kohlhaas, son of Kasper and Eva Mallinger Kohlhaas, was born Nov. 15, 1883 at St. Joe, and farmed there until his retirement in 1945. He never married. Since moving to Algona, he has lived with his sister, Dena.

Survivors, besides the sister, include three brothers, Phil, John and Connie, all of Algona, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers at the funeral were Ed Cullen, Charles Beringer, John Mertz, Nick Altman, John B. Reding and Lawrence Bormann.
