May 20, 1914 - Kossuth county Advance - About two years ago Joseph Jung came from Germany to the St. Joe neighborhood, where he worked as a farm hand. Recently he entered Mike Redding's employ. Last Wednesday he was driving in a wagon, when the team ran away. He was thrown out and a wheel passed over him, crushing his chest. Some of the Devine boys saw the accident and ran to his assistance, but he died in a half hour before a doctor could arrive.

May 22, 1914 - Bode Bugle - Joseph Jung, a German who has been working for Mike Reding, near St. Joe, met an accidental death last week Wednesday. He was driving a team on a wagon when he lost control of them and he was thrown out and the rig passed over his chest crushing it and causing almost instant death. The young man was about 23 years of age and a cousin of the Kayser boys. The funeral was held at St. Joe Saturday.
