Dec 19, 1919 - Bode Bugle - Word was received last Thursday that Matt Irmiter had died in the hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, on December 3rd. He had been taken to that place some days previous and had been operated on, but did not survive the trying ordeal.

Mr. Irmeter was born in the province of Rhine, Germany, near Coblenz on December 25, 1844. He was married in Chicago on May 15, 1877. He lived in that city for many years. After the big fire there he came to Iowa and took up a homestead. He farmed in the vicinity of St. Joe, Kossuth county, for many years and it is there that his wife died some thirty years ago.

Funeral services were held a Sts. Peter & Paul's church Tuesday morning, Father Dobberstein saying mass assisted by Father Sherbring. Interment was made in the St. Joe cemetery. The pall bearers were John Mersch, Theo. Fabor, John Nachtman, Ed Elbert, Tony Andert, and Wm. Manarch.

He leaves to mourn his loss three sons, one daughter and thireen grandchildren. The sons are John B. of Comfry Minn., Henry A. of Bode, and George H. of Chicago. The daughter, Mrs. John Fonk of Manhattan, Montana was unable to be present at the funeral owing to illness in her family.

Mr. Irmiter was one of the pioneers of this country and lived to see it developed into the best agricultural section to be found anywhere. He moved to West Bend about eighteen years ago and has since made this his home. He was a devout member of the Catholic church and was a kind neighbor and friend. He was good father and provided well for his children. Sincere sympathy is extended to the children in their bereavment. West Bend Journal
