Bode, Iowa September 1895 - Michel Heiderscheidt, who was one of the first pioneers from "Flohberg", in what is now Luxembourg. The deceased first saw the light of day (was born) 84 years ago in Pratz, which is in the Canton of Redingen, in the Duchy of Luxemburg. In the year 1846, he emigrated to America, where he helped to lay the cornerstones for what is now a large community.

In 1849, he married Catherina Wagner, who survives him. This marriage "sprouted" 13 children, 12 of which are mourning the death of their father: namely 5 sons and 7 daughters, all of which are successful. During the last five years, the deceased has received the holy sacraments several times a year. He was one of the first members of the St. Joseph congregation, and always had an "open hand" [was willing to give] so that the community could flourish. No hungry person would be allowed to continue his journey, if he asked for help, without first being fed and sheltered at his house. The large funeral procession - which was attended by nearly everyone in the community - is a sign of how respected he was.
