June 18, 1936 - West Bend Journal - "Jens" Heiderscheidt was among those who attended the funeral of his cousin, Mike Wagner, at Mallard Tuesday. After the services, the relatives and old friends assembled at the Wagner home, and while eating dinner, Mr. Heiderscheidt was noticed to collapse all at once. His son, Michael, went to his assistance and carried him from the house. Rev. J.J. Neppel and Dr. Beatty were called at once, but nothing could be done for him, and he passed away. It is thought that he suffered a stroke of apoplexy. The remains were brought to the Michael Heiderscheidt home and funeral services were held at the St. Joe Catholic church Wednesday morning. Rev. Theobald had charge of the services. The pall bearers were Nick Fish, Dominic Zeimet, Mike Wagner, Andrew Reding, Albert Mertz, and Wendell Risen. Interment was in the St. Joe cemetery beside the remains of his wife who died in November, 1929.

Johnny Heiderscheidt was born in Dubuque county, Iowa, on April 10, 1868. He was one of a family of fourteen children. When he was four years of age, his parents moved to Riverdale township, Kossuth county. Here he spent his boyhood and young manhood years. On February 12, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Kathleen Andre in the St. Joe Catholic church. They continued living on the old home place until 1898 when they purchased the farm five miles east of town which is now occupied by a son, Mike.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Heiderscheidt. They are Peter, Michael, Kathrine, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hundertmark. Katherine passed away in 1920. Mr. and Mrs. Heiderscheidt retired from the farm in 1921 and moved to West Bend where they purchased the residence in which he has since lived, except for a year or so when he made his home with his children.

Besides the three children, deceased is mourned by five grandchildren; one brother, Adam Heiderscheidt, who lives seven miles east of West Bend; and one sister, Mrs. Susanne Andre of Algona. Among those from a distance who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Heiderscheidt and four children of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Heiderscheidt and children, Mr. and Mrs. John Heiderscheidt, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Heiderscheidt and children, all of Morgan, Minn. The Journal extends sincere sympathy to the children and other relatives in their sorrow.
