May 17, 1966 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Joseph Freilinger, 74, St. Joe retired farmer, died at St. Ann hospital here Thursday morning, following an illness of one week. Funeral services for Mr. Freilinger were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic church at St. Joe, with Father L.C. Schumacher officiating. Burial followed at the parish cemetery and Hamilton Funeral Home, Algona, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Richard, Michael, Dennis and Steven Berte, Charles Streit and Robert Freilinger.

A lifetime resident of the St. Joe area, Joseph Freilinger, son of Peter and Anna Altman Freilinger, was born there May 5, 1892. He lived his entire life on the home farm and was never married.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Anna Berte, Bode, Sister Mary Sienna, Mt. St. Francis hospital, Dubuque, and Sister Mary Gervase, St. Anthony Orphanage, Sioux City; and a brother, John, St. Joe. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
