April 6, 1923 - Humboldt Republican - Mr. Mike Erpelding Sr, died Saturday morning from complication of the flu and pneumonia at his home north of Livermore in Kossuth county. Funeral services were held Wednesday.

April 11, 1923 - Emmetsburg Palo Alto Tribune - Michael Erpelding and two sons, Casper of Whittemore, and William, of St. Joe, died within a period of two months. All were victims of the flu.
