Jan 24, 1896 - Algona Courier - There has been considerable sickness about St. Joe this winter, and some deaths. On Sunday last Mrs. Valentine Engert jr. was buried, having died of typhoid fever; and on Monday, Mr. Engert, sr., died of some trouble akin to blood poisoning. Mr. Engert was a man between 50 and 60 years of age, but was robust and apparently in the prime of life until his last sickness. We sympathize with the bereaved families.
