PETE HEIKEN, EX-SUPERVISOR DIES IN CALIF.

P. J. Heiken, a Kossuth County supervisor for some 12 years, and whose home prior to retirement in California had been Swea City, died Saturday at Whittier, Calif. He was 94 years of age.

Services and burial took place in California, where his son Maurice Lives, and whom Mr. Heiken wished to be near in his later years.

Mr. Heiken was engaged in several businesses in Swea City, for three years, 1900-1903 in the implement business, 1903-1906 owner and operator of a restaurant, 1906-1908 as a rural mail carrier, and from 1909 to 1928 as owner of the Swea City Ford garage.

He was elected to the Kossuth Board of Supervisors from the fifth district in 1928 and served until 1942. Then for the next 10 years he lived at Fairmont, and more recently moved to Whittier, Cal.

He was born March 9, 1877, in Audubon County, attended Atlantic Business College, and Aug. 22, 1902, was married to Mary Louise Hatch. They had the one son, Maurice.
