B. O. Davis Rites Held
B.O. "Buck" Davis. 73, of Irvington, died unexpectedly Sunday at the Kossuth County Hospital where he had been taken after becoming suddenly ill at home.
Funeral service for Mr. Davis was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Geilenfeld-Schaaf-McCullough Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Strayer officiating. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery at Irvington.
Honorary bearers were Gerald Coleman, Kenneth Roney, Herman Becker, Barney Capesius, Elner Dole and Ed Immerfall.
Active bearers were Larry Davis, Tony Stephens, Randy Colwell, Jerry Davis, Keith Colwell and Tim Colwell.
Born Aug. 16, 1903 in Jefferson County at Fairfield, Ia., he was the son of Riley M. and Mary Lillian Ramey Davis. He attended school at Abingdon and came to Irvington in 1935.
Mr. Davis was married to Doris Colwell at Algona March 15, 1938 and they returned to Abingdon. The Davises came back to Irvington in 1943 and since had lived there. He was a carpenter, retiring in 1969. "Buck" enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and other outdoor sports.
He is survived by his wife Doris; three sons and a daughter; Darrel, Algona; Garry, Whitemore; Dennis, Hampton, Il; and Janet, Mrs. Richard Fellin, Mason City. There are nine grandchildren.
Two sisters also survive; Leila, Mrs Nelson Stephens and Lucille, Mrs. O.A. DeGood, both of Abingdon.
His parents and five brothers preceded him in death.
