Funeral For
MRS. CARREL
Held SaturdayFuneral services for Mrs. Adelia Carrel, 91, were held Saturday, Jan. 3 at the McCullough Funeral Home here. Rev. Newton Coughenour of the First Methodist church, officiated and burial was in the Irvington cemetery.
Mrs. Carrel died Wednesday at St. Ann hospital after a short illness. For the past 35 years she had made her home with her daughters, Mrs. Lyle Steele, Algona, and Mrs. William Moon, Lake Ozark, Mo. She had been in failing health for several years.
Adelia Devine was born Feb. 22, 1867 on a farm near here, the daughter of Barnett and Abagail [sic] Battersen Devine. She was one of a family of 11 children. She was married June 2, 1891 to Albert J. Carrel of Madrid, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lyle Steele, Algona, and Mrs. William Moon, Lake Ozark, Mo.; a brother, William Devine, Livermore, and a sister Mrs. Nellie Goetzman, Pomona, Calif. There are four grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers at the funeral were William Moon, Robert, Frank and Ray Devine, Alvin Lenertz and Harry Looft.
