Burt, DiesFuneral services for Mrs Elizabeth Kennedy, 88 of Burt were held Tuesday, October 2 at 2 o’clock at the United Methodist church in Burt. The Rev. Beatty McDonald officiated at the services, with the Garry Funeral Home of Bancroft in charge of arrangements. Burial took place in the Buffalo Township Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Loebach, Robert Wood, Edward Boyken, Charles Curtis, Dr. Jerry Shey and William Hellman.
Honorary pallbearers were Rex Austin, Frank Fisher, Edmund Larson, Leslie Braund, Ernest Nauman and Arthur Peterson.
Elizabeth Erickson was born August 7, 1885, in Story County, Iowa, a daughter of Paul and Inger Thompson Erickson. She married Frank Tienan in 1901, who died in 1913. She later married William Kennedy, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the Methodist church W.S.C.S., the Titonka V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliary, the Navy Mothers Club and a Gold Star Mother.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Tienan of Mason City, Paul Tienan of Burt, and two daughters, Mrs Gordon (Betty) Nelson of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Minnie Samuelson, of Arvada Colo.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Kennedy, who lost his life on the Battleship Oklahoma in the attack in Pearl Harbor; and a son, Homer in 1964.
The William Kennedy Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Titonka was named after the deceased William Kennedy.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Mollie Brown of Sioux Falls, So. Dakota, nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A brother Elmer Erickson preceded her in death one year ago.
