Auge children

My ancestor, Ernestine Sophie Auge', orphaned about 1852 in New Orleans by the Yellow Fever plague, was adopted by people who apparently lived in Keokuk County, Iowa. A brother, Louis Auge', may also have been adopted by the same people. Ernestine was born in 1847 and it was 1-3 years earlier or later for the boy. Their parents were immigrants from France to New Orleans. Family lore says the children were adopted and taken to Iowa. Any information will be appreciated.
