Silas Brook White, 81 years of age, a resident of Sigourney nearly all of his life, died Wednesday evening last week following a serious illness of two weeks duration. He had been in failing health for some time.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. G.L. Hufstader, pastor of the Methodist church and burial was in West Cemetery.
Mr. White was born November 11, 1858 at Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Silas White. He came to Iowa as a young man.
He was united in marriage to Ellen Martin September 29, 1887. Mrs. White died April 1, 1909.
Mr. White had lived in Sigourney most of his life. He united with the Methodist church under the pastorate of the Rev. Mr. Pike and was one of the men who assisted in building the present church edifice.
One daughter, Mrs. N.B. Erickson died in 1933. He is survived by his son and daughter, Raymond White of New Orleans, Louisiana and Mrs. W.O. Ray of Sigourney; one sister, Mrs. Bell White of Indianapolis; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
