Mary Ellen Martin was born near wayland, Henry County, Iowa July 14, 1886 and died in Sigourney April 1, 1909, age 42 yr, 8 mo, 17 da.
She was married to Silas White of Sigourney September 21, 1887. To this union were born 3 children: Vera Belle, Raymond Elvin, and Rosa Esther.
Under the preaching of Rev. Pike, she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church 14 years ago the 8th of April. She was an active member in church work doing her part until her health failed her over five years ago.
She went to Texas four years ago thinking the climate might benefit her, but it did not seem to help her and a year ago this spring she went to New Mexico and Oklahoma, but nothing seemed to help her. She was a great sufferer but no one knew it except her immediate family as she never complained.
She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, three children and four half-brothers: George W. Meyer, Sigourney; Charles A. Meyer, Roosevelt, Oklahoma: Samuel P. Meyer, Texline, Texas; and John A. Meyer, Emberson, New Mexico, besides numerous other relatives.
The funeral service occurred Sunday afternoon in the Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted by Rev. Swickard, pastor with interment in West Cemetery.
