Mary Ellen Martin White, a former resident of this place was born at Wayland, Henry County, Iowa, July 14, 1866, and passed away at Sigourney, April 1, 1909, after a lingering of consumption, aged 43 years, 8 months, and 17 days.

She was united in marriage to Silas B. White September 21, 1887. To this union were born three children, Vera Belle, Raymond Elvin and Rose Esther.

Mrs. White was an earnest and active member of the Methodist church, always doing her part, until her health failed.

The husband and three children survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, April 14, conducted by her pastor in the Methodist church.

(Note: She was buried at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney, Keokuk County, Iowa. Her parents were Bonham and Esther DeMarce Meyer Martin.)
