North English- Reva Claypool Wyant, 98, of North English, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2019, at Country View Senior Living in North Liberty.
Reva was born on January 22, 1921, in rural Keokuk County to Joe and Sallie Gilchrist. She was a graduate of North English High School and William Penn College.
Reva married Leroy Claypool on December 23, 1940, in Sedalia, Missouri. She and Leroy owned and operated Economy Foods in South English for many years. She also taught in both the Iowa County country schools and English Valley Community schools. She later worked at Amana Refrigeration.
Several years after Leroy passed away, Reva married Arland Wyant in North English. Together they enjoyed serving their community and sitting on their front porch. Reva loved making quilts, taking care of her family, and attending many of her grandchildren's events. She was active in the North English Christian Church where she was a life long member.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Lavon) Rutt of Iowa City, step daughter Vickie Wyant of South English, two grandsons Christopher (Christine) Rutt and Jay Rutt of Iowa City, six great grandchildren Kyle Dhondt, Shelby Dhondt, Devin and Annika Rutt and Doug and Danielle Barker, one great, great grandchild Amara, a brother-in-law Kenneth Donahue and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Leroy and Arland, a daughter Sally Hulbert, a stepson Gary Wyant, a grandson Matt Dhondt, a brother and sister-in-law William and Gladys Gilchrist, a sister Betty Jo Donahue and a nephew Randy Donahue.Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the North English Christian Church. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service, starting at 9:30 am . Memorials may be given to the North English Christian Church or Iowa City Hospice.
