Funeral services for Orville Salzgeber, 98 of Perry, Iowa will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Perry with Military Honors. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials will be directed to First Baptist Church or to Alzheimer’s Research and may be sent in Orville’s name to Murdock Funeral Home. Orville passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Dallas County Hospital.

Orville Norman Salzgeber was born October 9, 1920 in Perry, Iowa the son of Percy Raymond and Lauretta Susan (Leedom) Salzgeber. He attended schools in Perry and graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1938. He served his country in the United States Army from May 23, 1944 until his Honorable Discharge on April 20, 1946. He married Louise Frances Mueller on June 6, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Orville was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Perry. He was an avid golfer, in earlier years, and was a member of the Perry Golf and Country Club for many years. He held memberships in the VFW and Perry American Legion Post.

A lifetime resident of Perry, Orville is survived by two sons Jerry (Karla) Salzgeber of Murphy, TX, Jay (Ronda) Salzgeber of Wylie, TX; one daughter Linda (Harold) Roberts of Rock Island, IL; four grandchildren Patrick (Shana) Roberts, Scott (Heather) Salzgeber, Megan (Grant) Burrow, Shay Salzgeber and four great-grandchildren. Preceding Orville in death were his parents and wife Louise on April 4, 2009.

Murdock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
