July 18, 1978Lyon rites Wednesday
Valeira T. Lyon, 84, 503 E. Lowe, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Monday at the Jefferson County Hospital. She had been ill the past three months.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Behner Funeral Home in charge of Rev. David R. Kennedy. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held tonight at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Lyon was born June 9, 1894 at Richland, the daughter of George and Isa Tracy Snider. June 22, 1916 she was married to Robert N. Lyon and he died April 25, 1952. She lived most of her life in the Fairfield community and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Good Cheer society.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Verle Hall, Birmingham, and Bernice Allbaugh, Sigourney; four sons: Raymond Lyon, Birmingham; Harold of Marion; Bruce, Fairfield and Max of Burlington; also 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Mary Linn, Burlington, and three brothers: Clemens Snider, Burlington; Cecil Snider, Reynolds, Ill., and Quentin Snider, Galesburg, Ill. She was preceded in death by one brother and one grandchild.
