Martha J. Blacketer was born in Park Co., Indiana, January 25, 1859 and died at her home in Atwood, Feb. 10, 1910, after an illness of 4 days, aged 51 years and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to William Sampson, January 2, 1876. To this union were born three children, the oldest dying in infancy. Fred A. Sampson, of Valley Junction, Iowa and Mrs. Maysie Small, of Atwood.

She was converted when quite young and united with the Baptist church and later with the Christian church at Springfield, Iowa.

Besides her children she leaves to mourn her loss her husband, mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Worick of Oskaloosa, four sisters, Mrs. Will Wharton of Rose Hill, Mrs. C. I. Ellis of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Clem Natherstead of Rose Hill and Mrs. Geo. Sherman of Oskaloosa, Iowa.

One sister, Mrs. Ida Beader preceded her to the life beyond April 13, 1900.

A host of friends and neighbors mourn the loss of this life which made the world brighter and better by its presence.
