Madge Long, 102, of Sigourney died April 16, 2002 at the Manor House, Sigourney, following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 29, 1899, to George and Ella Turnham Hayes on a farm south of Hayesville. She married Earl Long Aug. 6, 1922, at the Methodist Parsonage in Sigourney. He preceded her in death in 1985. Following marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the Hedrick and Lancaster areas.

She was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church and was treasurer of the Christian Women's Fellowship.

Surviving are one son, Stanton Long; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Deal, Lucille, Esther, Nellie, Julia and Ora, and brothers, Glen and Russell.

Funeral services were April 19 at the Lancaster Christian Church in rural Sigourney with the Rev. Brad Penn officiating. Interment was at Pennington cemetery, rural Sigourney.
