George Everette Jones, 87, of Aurora, Colo., a former dentist, died Fri., June 16, 1995, at St. Joseph Hospital in Aurora, Colo.

He was born Aug. 3, 1907, in Hayesville to George Wilson and Julia Frances Utterback Jones. He graduated from Martinsburg High School. He married Garnett Robbins on Sept. 3, 1932, in Norfolk, Va, He earned a DDS degree from the University of Iowa. He served in the US Public Health Service as a commissioned officer and retired as Colonel after 33 years. He served as head of the dental department at Public Health Services Hospitals across the country, including Cleveland, Memphis, Seattle, Baltimore and San Francisco. He was instrumental in setting up dental intern training programs and in arranging cooperative education programs with universities. He was a fellow in the American College of Dentistry and was awarded a commendation medal from the US Public Health Service for his services and devotion to the advancement of the science and art of dentistry.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Warren and Everette; a step-granddaughter; and a sister Lulu Heninger of Sigourney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ralph, David and Harold.

Services were held June 20 at Grace United Methodist Church in Aurora, Colo. Burial was in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
