Edna Helen Hayes, age 102, of Hayesville, died Fri., June 15, 2001 at the Sigourney Care Center in Sigourney.

She was born Dec. 23, 1909 in Webster City to Edward Hastings and Estella Jane Hoon Osborn. She married Robert Dale Hayes on June 18, 1926 in Seymour. He died June 10, 1999. She graduated from Aledo High School in Aledo, Ill. and graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University in Ames. She taught in La Grange, Ill., Aledo, Ill., Batesville, Ark. and Cedar Rapids. She was a bridge player, enjoyed antique buttons and was in a Collector's Club.

Surviving are three sons, Robert O., Jack D. and Thomas S.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A private family service will be held.
