Phyllis Gregory, 76, of Sigourney, died Mon., July 31, 2006, at her home.

She was born on July 11, 1930, near Sigourney the daughter of Wesley Ward and Ruby Leah Noller Ragan. She graduated from Sigourney High School, attended Coe College and graduated from A.I.B in Des Moines. She also graduated from Auctioneer College. She married Raymond Donald Gregory on June 20, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Sigourney. They lived and farmed southeast of Sigourney in Lancaster Township. She was a legal aid to Curt Updegraff and was a deputy Recorder for Keokuk County for many years. She moved into Sigourney in 1995 from her farm after her husband's passing She was owner and broker for North Star Real Estate Inc. and worked at Dollar General part time. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W., P.E.O., Aspasia Chapter # 198 Order of Eastern Star, Sigourney Arts Council and many other local organizations. She played piano and organ for many groups. She was proud that her farm was Century farm.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Walls; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Nell Updegraff; and two nephews, John and Mark Updegraff.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services were held Thurs., Aug. 3 at the United Methodist Church in Sigourney with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial was in Pennington Cemetery.
