Viola Bensmiller, 91, of Sigourney died Jan. 3, 2000, at Sigourney Care Center.

She was born Jan. 2, 1909, in West Lancaster Township near Sigourney to Claude and Almyra Reynolds Jacobs. She married Frank Ivan Bensmiller on May 1, 1930, in Sigourney; he died Nov. 2, 1974. She attended Basey country school and graduated from. Sigourney High School in 1928. She and her husband farmed for six years, lived in Hayesville for 19 years and moved to Sigourney in 1960. She was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Kerkove and Marilyn Glandon; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Jacobs of Sigourney; and a sister, Ruth Fry.

She was preceded in death by a grandaughter; four brothers, Robert, William "Stormy", Carroll and Calvin "Jack" Jacobs; and a sister, Bessie Van Orsdall.

Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 6 at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney with the Rev. Vince Homan officiattng. Burial will be in the Pennington Cemetery near Sigourney.
