Amos Adams, 77, of Sigourney died Saturday, March 27, 1993, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

He was born June 24, 1915, in Kirksville, Mo. to Theodore and Clarissa Brittle Adams.

He married Edna May Heisdorffer. She died in 1976. He then married Vema Dumont on December 29, 1977, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney.

He attended school in Kirksville before coming to Iowa in 1933 and working for the Amish. He farmed in the Lancaster and Ollie areas until retiring to Sigourney in 1978. He was a member of Sigourney Kiwanis, was in Fourth Degree in Knights of Columbus, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney.

He is survived by his wife; four stepdaughters, Sherry Sieren, Peggy Winn, Pat Schaapveld and Kathy Dumont; two stepsons, David Dumont and John Dumont; 17 stepgrandchildren; and two sisters, Leona Novinger and Jane Chadwell. .

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

The service was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 1993, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, Father Phillip Ryan and Rev. Robert Harness officiating. Burial was in Friends Cemetery in Richland.
