Hal Dean Utterback, 59, of rural Sigourney, died Sun., May 17, 1987 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.

He was born July 17, 1927, in Delta to Otto and Freda Strohman Utterback. He attended Delta schools. He worked at Iowa Valve and in construction for many years. He was employed by Sigourney Care Center and was a member of the Delta Christian Church. He married Mary Thomas on Dec. 17, 1952 in Oskaloosa.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Curtis, David, Kevin, and Craig; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Steele and Ruth Stanley; seven brothers, Leland, Bruce, Larry, Loren, Jimmie, Newell and Richard.

Services were held at 1:,30 p.m. on Tues., May 19 at the Delta Christian Church, the Rev. Joel Aurand officiated. Burial with full military honors was in Springfield Cemetery near Delta.
