CHARBONNEAU, FEAR, CRILL

Annetta "Netta" Fennella Charbonneau, 85, of rural Delta, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005 at her home. Services were Oct. 18 at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer. Interment followed at the Waddell Cemetery south of What Cheer.

Annetta was born June 18, 1920 in rural Delta, the daughter of Howard Clayton and Fennella Fear Crill. She was reared in rural Delta and attended the Burr Oak country school until the 8th grade. Armetta and her brother Clayton then rode their horses to What Cheer to attend the High School where Annetta was graduated in 1938 with a normal training certificate. She then attended Parson College in Fairfield, UNI in Cedar Falls and then was graduated from Penn College in Oskaloosa.

While attending Parson College in Fairfield Annetta met and fell in love with Fred Charbonneau. They would be united in marriage on Dec. 25, 1944 in Richland, while Fred was on leave from the navy during WWII.

During her life Annetta taught school at Colbert Country School, southwest of What Cheer, Burr Oak Country school, Gibson Elementary, Rose Hill Elementary, Wright Country School and at the Tri-County Elementary. She retired from teaching in 1986.

Armetta's enjoyments included caring for and loving her animals, traveling, needlework, flowers, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a member of the What Cheer Baptist Church, Keokuk County Retired School Personnel, Ruritans, Teamsters, Eastern Star, and Linger Longer Club.

Armetta's memory is honored by her husband, Fred Charbonneau; her brother, Clayton Crill and wife Christine of Delta, and many nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death.
