DAVIS, Meshack

Meshack Davis was born in 1811 and was living in Franklin, IN in 1840. He died Oct. 15, 1896 in Ollie, Keokuk County, IA and is buried in the Halferty Cemetery in Keokuk, Co., IA. He has lived in District 26, Jackson and Richland, Keokuk Co., IA and Wapello Co., IA

His first wife was Susannah and they had seven children: Marilda P. b. 1836, Elizabeth b. 1837, John b. 1839, Emeline b. 1840, Mary b. 1842, Lot b. 1844 and Susana b. 1848.

His second wife was Hannah Amburm b. 1813. They had twin sons: Joseph Flint Davis and David Baker Davis born June 17, 1862.

Joseph Flint Davis was born in Keokuk Co., IA and married Isabel Purdy in 1885. He died on Jan. 25, 1916 in Lucas Co., IA and is buried in the Chariton Cemetery, in Lucas Co., IA. Sec. F, Row 23 N-S, Grave 10.

David Baker Davis married Mary C. Hamilton of Keokuk Co., IA on Feb. 13, 1884 in Wapello Co., IA. They have lived in Highland, Wapello Co., Bingham Co., Warren, Lucas Co. and in around 1920 they moved to Macon, Macon Co., MO were they owned a home and farmed. He died Jan. 16, 1940 and his wife died Jan. 8, 1938 and are both buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon, Macon Co., MO. They had six children: Anna Sarah b. 1887 who married John Roy May of Lucas Co., IA, Rhoda May b. 1890, Chester R. b. 1894, Clifford Dwayne b. Feb. 14, 1897 who married Opal, Marie b. 1905 and Nadeen Davis b. 1909.
