Verna Bernice Piersel

WHAT CHEER - Verna Bernice Piersel, 58, of Deep River, died Monday at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The daughter of Robert and Sadie Briggs Benson, she was born Aug. 12, 1918 in Gibson. She was married Jan. 29, 1939, in Oskaloosa to Loren Piersel, who survives.

Also surviving are her father, Robert Benson of Delta; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Beverly) Heishman and Mrs. Terry (Connie) Stephen, both of Deep River; six grandchildren; and one brother, Harvey Benson, Delta. She was preceded in death by her mother, two sisters and a step-mother.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with Don Ridenour officiating. Burial will be in the Indianapolis Cemetery.
