Sigourney Review - July 27 1966
William Frederick Snakenberg, aged 97, died July 21 at the Rest Haven nursing home in Sigourrney. He had been in failing health for th epast two years, but only seriously ill for the past 10 days. He was born Feb 14 1869, in Plank Twp. near Sigourney , the son of Louis and Mary Schornhorst Snakenberg. On Sept 7, 1898, he married Maude Roe at Webster, and they established their home on the farm homesteaded by his father six miles northeast of Sigourney where his son, Dale now resides. In 1944, they retired and moved to Sigourney, where his wife died in 1959. After the death of his wife, he lived with his children until entering the nursing home. He is survived by two sons, Elmer of Harper and Dale of Sigourney; and one daughter, Myrtle Weber of Richland; nine gradchildren and eight great grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his wife, were one son, Harley in 1938 and one granddaughter, Ms Lucille Weber Zachmeyer. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services were held July 25 and interment was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
