Mrs. Carter Dies At 74

OLLIE - Mrs. Pearl Carter, 74, of Kinross, formerly of Ollie, died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa where she had been a patient for a few days.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., at the Ollie United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Layman officiating. Burial will be in the Ollie Cemetery. The body is at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Mrs. Carter was born Aug. 26, 1899, the daughter of Phillip and Margaret Huffman Michel. She was married to Effner Carter on Dec. 19, 1917. He died in 1964.

Mrs. Carter is survived by four daughters and one son, Mrs. Gertrude Abel and Mrs. Catherine Hardy both of Ottumwa, Mrs. Dorothy Tolton of Marengo and Mrs. Jessie Phillips of Hedrick and Lawrence Cater of Ollie.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Pete Michel and Harry Michel of Sigourney and Phillip Michel of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Seaba, Mrs. Anna Eastburn and Mrs. Jessie Shafer all of Sigourney.
